The final concert in MusicFor's first series, Music for an Autumn Evening. Up-and-coming string quartet The Bloomsbury Quartet perform music by Beethoven, Schubert and Britten. This evocative programme focuses on music written around the time of war: Beethoven was living in Vienna at the time when Napoleon invaded, and Britten went to Germany to perform to concentration camp survivors, writing his String Quartet no. 2 on his return.The programme is balanced with Schubert's Quartettsatz, the opening movement from an unfinished string quartet.
The Bloomsbury Quartet formed in 2017 at the Royal Academy of Music. Each of its members are successful soloists in their own right, winning prizes in regional, national and international competitions in the UK, the Netherlands and Singapore. They frequently appear in orhestras, including the Britten Sinfonia and the Metropole. Their talent, dedication to music-making and sharing music with others also received recognition and support through the Marylebone Student Award, Howard Davis Scholarship, Music and Dance Scheme, Guildhall School Trust Scholarship, the HSBC Youth Excellence Award, and the Diana Award.
The concert will last for approximately one hour with no interval. There will be a bar serving refreshments.
